In-Person Workshops
The Essentials is a one-day, hands-on workshop with horses focused on owner-level emergency readiness and practical first-response skills, including:
- Recognizing early changes and communicating with your veterinarian
- Taking vital signs and identifying pain or distress
- Responding to common emergencies such as colic, choke, and other injuries
- Performing safe first-response actions, wound care, and basic bandaging
- Prioritizing preparedness, safety, and decision-making until professional care is available
Beyond Essentials is a one-day, hands-on workshop for those who have completed The Essentials and want support when situations extend beyond core skills, including:
- Burns and skin injuries
- Sudden lameness and mobility concerns
- Allergic reactions, bites, or stings
- Hoof-related issues, including laminitis concerns
- Situations that require stabilization and monitoring, such as puncture wounds, heat stress, dehydration, or cast horses
Why owner-level preparedness matters
In many areas, equine veterinarians are covering larger service regions and heavier caseloads, which can mean longer response times for emergency calls. As a result, horse owners are often the first line of support when something goes wrong.
Emergency Ready™ workshops are designed to support owners during that early window — helping them recognize changes, take appropriate first steps, and communicate clearly with their veterinarian until professional care is available.
